Meet the Tutors
Joseph Whitfield specializes in English and History. He has spent six years gaining experience in these areas. As his majors in undergrad and graduate school, he holds a unique perspective on making texts and historical events accessible and relatable to each student he works with.
Jule ThomasJule has a Bachelor’s in Secondary Education, with a focus in ESL learning; a Master’s in English Literature; and a PhD in Composition and Rhetoric, with specialties in tutoring, ESL learning, test prep, placement exams, and instructional design. She loves working with students and believes that the best learning environments are collaborative and focus on the student’s needs, goals, and learning styles.
Binh HoangBinh graduated from University of California, Santa Cruz with a degree in Economics in 1993. In 2006 he completed his TESOL certification and started his journey as an English teacher. From 2006 to 2017, he taught English in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam. He taught ESL, Language Arts, & Economics at Asian Pacific University, an international Jr/high school. Then moved to teaching TOEFL prep, Academic English, and presentation skills at Vietnam National University, He also taught SAT & TOEFL for Yola Education.
Dr. Marcellues E. Hall
For the past 14 years, I promoted the use of theoretical frameworks supported by a growth mindset aimed at achieving student specific learning outcomes. I apply a two-track mindset to achieve higher-order thinking success to develop strategic and critical thinking learners. My goal is to help students transfer learning outcomes into meaningful relationships in a cross-cultural learning environment to build intellectual domains. I specialize in the following subjects: English (Literature and Language AP, Honors, and IB); Math: Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1 & 2, and Geometry; Writing: Creative, Literary, and Experimental (up to university level) and Psychology: High School level.
Brittany Slade is a native New Yorker with a passion for developing healthy, well-rounded children. She completed all of her early education in the New York City public school system and went on to get her Bachelor’s from Delaware State University. Brittany has served children of New York City as an educator for the past four years. Throughout this time, she has worked with students ranging from grades K-6 focusing primarily on English Language Arts.
Ms. Biggs is a 4+ year teacher who was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. She holds a Bachelors in Anthropology and Masters of Science in Early Childhood Education. Ms. Biggs specializes in early literacy. She enjoys teaching students how to read and helping them develop a love for reading. However, Ms. Biggs had worked with students from kindergarten all the way to rising 5th grade.
I am very compassionate and dedicated to working with students to succeed in not only mathematics, but also succeed in becoming positive citizens in their societies. I truly gain fulfillment with teaching others how to improve themselves academically and socially.
My education includes a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mathematics and a Master of Management degree in Human Resources Management. I have been a secondary mathematics teacher for over 16 years. I have taught classes such as Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II. I focus on building rapports with my students so that we can effectively communicate with each other towards their academic success.
